How the Twitterverse began

The big bang visualisation of the top 140 Twitter influencers. The Information Architects team have come up with a way of looking at Twitter that echoes maps of how the universe began.

Have you ever wondered who the most influential people are on Twitter and how they came to shape what is the enormous social network we know today from just three central tweeters? No, neither have I, but it seems that the people at Information Architects have and they’ve just released this map of the Top 140. The “universe” is divided into several areas, so we can see for example that under Politics, Barrack Obama was first to tweet, followed by Schwarzenegger, Al Gore and a discreet John McCain. Sports personalities Lance Armstrong, Rubens Barrichello and Tony Hawk are also there as leaders of their section (Real Madrid as well, it must be said), while Lady Gaga is way out in front of the music group, followed by Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and a host of personalities such as Paris Hilton. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Yoko Ono is listed halfway between Intellectuals and Art & Design …
