So now you’ve got your costume, the food’s on the way and the pumpkin’s have been sacrificed. It’s time to think about the music! There are multiple options for Halloween party music, so we’ll start off with three classics, one from the 60s and two from the 70s, with more to come. Note: we are not planning to include Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, because that is rather obvious, but if you really want to see the full 15-minute version, you can find it here. Thank You.
1. Charles Sheffield – It’s Your Voodoo Workin’ – 60s Soul with modern imagery.
2. Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London – Perhaps one of the stranger songs to hit the UK charts … great for singing along to.
3. Various – The Time Warp – from the Rocky Horror Picture Show (Dammit, Janet!). Imprescindible. [UPDATE: Well, that was quick ... YouTube have already taken down the video for, ahem, "copyright infringement". It was great while it lasted.]
Strange Random Rocky Horror Quote:
Frank: So come up to the lab and see what’s on the slab. I see you shiver with antici… pation.

Keep that wolf at the door with Halloween recipes – Halloweek part 2
Continuing our look at interesting sites for Halloween ideas, we turn our focus to food, a subject that is very close to our hearts (or should we say our stomachs?) here in the office.
We started with a general Google search for “Halloween recipes with pictures” and as yo
u can see, there are plenty of goodies to choose from. The ubiquitous pumpkin is a favourite, of course, but we liked some of the more creative and thematic dishes, such as these two:
From the Food Network website comes Vampire Blood Tomato soup with Muenster Cheese sandwiches. First, catch your vampires …. no, just joking, but the recipe does call for garlic and onions, so make sure you’re among friends or you may find yourself “exorcised”. Click on the photo (right) for more information and the full recipe.
The second
gruesome gourmet dish we liked the look of was Eyeball Tacos at VisualRecipes.com. The main idea is the same as making ordinary tacos, but topped with cream and sliced black olives. If any of your friends or family claim that their dinner is looking at them in a funny way, then for once, they’re probably right …

In the run-up to Halloween 2010, we’re going to be featuring some fun articles and videos on different aspects of the holiday.
Today we look at the home-made costume and make-up. Despite the fact that many people choose Halloween costumes in line with celebrities of the day (say, Lady Gaga, or films like Avatar or Iron Man), the majority will probably go for the classic “scary monster” style.
Today’s video shows you how to get that “just risen from the grave” zombie look, perfect for any special occasion, with just a few items from the local store. See you soon!

Cameron ad to avoid “Hung Parliament”
In the run-up to Thursday’s general Election in the UK, the Conservative Party, many would say favourites to win, have launched a fake TV ad on behalf of the Hung Parliament Party. The aim is to show voters what might happen if none of the parties receives a majority and of course, get them all to vote Conservative! Although rare in the UK, a Hung Parliament has happened before, as this article points out. The reason for the rope in the picture is the double meaning of hang – hanged – hanged for people and hang – hung – hung for things …
