So it’s that time of the year again, when Spain celebrates its Autumn festival with regional variations such as the Castanyada here in Catalonia: get-togethers, sweet potatoes, cava and the ubiquitous chestnuts and marzipan sweets. At the same time, a growing number of people are celebrating Halloween American-style and a small number, like yours truly, celebrate both!

Whatever you celebrate, the key is having fun and learning about the traditions, so here are some links to help with both of those:

A History of the Magosto or Castanyada tradition – from Spanish Wikipedia

History of Halloween- from History.Com.

Free Horror movies to stream or download – from the Internet Archive

The start of one of the worst horror / sci-fi movies ever made – Ed Wood‘s Plan 9 from Outer Space

And if you ever wondered what happened to the Transylvania Twist – it’s now the Monster Mash. Classic shock-rock!

Finally, some tasty photos from the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration.

HAVE FUN!
