Dick Cavett‘s legendary career stretched for decades, and the show bearing his name welcomed countless celebrities and high profile guests, from Katharine Hepburn to Orson Wells and Marlon Brando. Now he is looking back on the highlights in a new book, Talk Show: Confrontations, Pointed Commentary and Off Screen Secrets.

He talks to Matt Frei about his most memorable interviews and why he did not like the label “intellectual”.
